The HS2 from Olight is a mini lightweight headlamp which is designed for use by runners and climbers but would also be useful for bikers, campers hikers and DIYselfers around the home or shop. The compact headlamp measures a mere 0.94 inches long with a body diameter of 1.77 inches. The HS2 weighs 4.06 ounces with the head strap and battery pack attached. The headlamp is constructed from an aerospace-grade aluminum alloy which features a unibody design and a 180 degree tilt mechanism. The HS2 is attached to a reflective headband which allows a user to be seen in the dark.
The Olight HS2 utilizes two LEDs (Cree XP-G2) which produce either a floodlight, a spotlight beam or a combination of both offering a spotlight with a wide beam. The headlamp has a TIR optic lens which facilitates the wide beam. The HS2 is powered by a built-in rechargeable 2000mAH Lipo battery pack but it can also be powered directly from any USB powered device while the user is on the go. The battery can be recharged via a connection to an external USB power supply using the included USB cable. The headlamp features low power warning from a four level battery power indicator at the side of the battery pack and a low battery audible beep when the battery reaches 10% of its capacity.
The HS2 produces a maximum output of 400 lumens, a beam throw distance of 85 meters and five light modes: High 400 Lumens 2Hr 12Min; Mid 200 Lumens 4Hr 30Min; Low 100 Lumens 9Hr; Eco 50 Lumens 18Hr; SOS. The headlamp is operated by a Blue side witch which is attached to the light via a cable. When the headlamp is turned on/off or changing modes, the brightness will change gradually to protect a user’s eyes from the stimulation caused by sudden brightness changes. The Olight HS2 package includes one rechargeable 2000mAh 3.7V Lipo battery, head strap, pouch, two replacement cable clips, 1.5-meter Micro-USB cable and user manual.
