The Nitecore SRT9 (SmartRing Tactical) flashlight is a compact tactical flashlight designed for use by professionals in the military, law enforcement and security. The flashlight features a smart selector ring below the head which allows a user to easily switch between nine light modes. The SRT9 produces blue, green, red and ultraviolet (UV) light in addition to the primary white light. Red light protects night-vision and can be used for observation, astronomy and night photography. Green light is particularly effective for map reading, searching and hunting while blue light assists in identifying blood traces. Ultraviolet light is widely used in authenticating documents especially currency notes.
The SRT9 measures 5.83 inches long and has a head diameter of 1.57 inches. The flashlight features a die-cast unibody construction unlike regular flashlights which consist of three separate parts. The SRT9 is built from an aircraft-grade aluminum alloy which features double-side dimples to ensure a firm grip and a stainless steel bezel. The flashlight also features a titanium-coated stainless steel pocket clip.
The Nitecore SRT9 utilizes a Cree XHP50 LED for white light and auxiliary RGB red, green, blue and ultraviolet (500mW, wavelength 365mm) LEDs for colored light. The flashlight also contains a micro-textured Orange Peel reflector and an ultra-clear mineral glass with anti-reflective coating. The SRT9 can be powered by two rechargeable 18650 Lithium Ion batteries or four CR123/RCR123 batteries. The flashlight features ATR (Advanced Temperature Regulation) technology which allows the SRT9 to regulate its output and avoid overheating on the surface of the light.
The SRT9 produces a maximum output of 2150 lumens of white light and a beam throw distance of 246 meters. The flashlight produces nine light modes: Turbo 22150 Lumens 1Hr 18650 Batteries – 30Min CR123 Batteries; Eco 0.1 Lumen 250Hr 18650 Batteries – 130Hr CR123 Batteries; Red 13 Lumens 50Hr 18650 Batteries – 34Hr CR123 Batteries; Green 19 Lumens 48Hr 18650 Batteries – 30HR CR123 Batteries; Blue 3 Lumens 48Hr 18650 Batteries – 30Hr CR123 Batteries; UV 48HR 18650 Batteries 30Hr CR123 Batteries; Location Beacon; Police Warning Signal; Strobe.
The flashlight is operated by a tactical tail switch and a mode-selection smart selector ring at the base of the head. Press and hold the switch halfway down for the momentary-on operation of the light. Press the tail switch until a click is heard to turn on/off the flashlight. With the turned on, slowly rotate the smart selector ring in a counterclockwise direction to cycle through the following brightness levels:Beacon-Police warning signal-Blue mode-Green mode-Red mode-Ultraviolet light-Standby mode-Infinite brightness modes-Turbo mode-Strobe mode. You can cycle through these modes in reverse by rotating the Smart Selector Ring in a clockwise direction.
The Nitecore SRT9 features a blue power indicator at the side of the light which will blink to alert the user of the remaining power levels. When in standby mode, the SRT9 will draw a small amount of current from the battery to maintain the operation of its microprocessor. The blue power indicator will blink once every two seconds to serve as a positioning light when the flashlight is in standby mode. The Nitecore SRT9 flashlight pack includes a holster, lanyard and tailcap rubber cushion.
