Fenix UC30 2017: Rechargeable flashlight delivers 1000 lumens and 253 meter beam

The Fenix UC30 2017 produces a very powerful beam reaching a maximum output of 1000 lumens and a throw distance of 253 meters. The UC30 2017 is a compact rechargeable flashlight that would be very handy to have around the home or shop when the lights go out unexpectedly. The UC30 2017 measures 130mm long with a head diameter of 25.4mm. The flashlight weighs 77 grams without a battery installed.

The UC30 2017 is constructed from an aerospace-grade aluminum alloy which features knurling for a firm grip and a Type III hard-anodized anti-abrasive finish. The flashlight comes with green and purple rubber switch boots which which fit into the Micro-USB port in the head to keep out moisture. The green rubber switch boot is luminous which assists a user in locating the light in the dark.

The flashlight utilizes a Cree XP-L HI V3 LED, a smooth metal reflector and an ultra-clear glass lens with an anti-reflective coating. The UC30 2017 can be powered by one 18650 rechargeable Li-ion battery or two CR123A Lithium batteries. The 18650 battery can be recharged inside the flashlight via a connection from the Micro-USB port in the neck of the light to an external USB power supply. Reverse polarity protection guards against incorrect battery insertion.

The Fenix UC30 2017 produces six light modes: Turbo 1000 Lumens 1Hr 25Min; High 350 Lumens 3hr 20Min; Mid 150 Lumens 8hr 45Min; Low 50 Lumens 28Hr 25Min; Eco 5 Lumens 150Hr; Strobe 1000 Lumens. Maximum performance of the flashlight is achieved using a fully charged 18650 battery. The flashlight features overheat protection which allows the light to downshift brightness levels to prevent overheating on the surface. When in Turbo mode the flashlight will automatically downshift after three minutes of continuous use.

The UC30 2017 is operated by a stainless steel side switch located in the neck of the light. Press and hold the switch for 0.5 seconds to turn on/off the flashlight. With the light turned on, click the switch to cycle through the brightness levels in the following order; Turbo, Eco, Low, Mid and High. To access Strobe, press and hold the switch for 1.2 seconds whether the light is on or off. While in Strobe click the switch to return to the previously used brightness level.

The Fenix UC30 2017 features a lock/unlock function where a double click of the switch either locks or unlocks the flashlight thereby preventing accidental activation of the light. A battery level indicator inside the switch alerts the user as to the remaining battery power. With the flashlight turned off, click the switch and the indicator will display the battery status for three seconds. The Fenix UC30 2017 flashlight pack includes an ARB-L18 2600 battery, holster, lanyard, Micro-USB charging cable, O-ring and two rubber switch boots.
