Fenix TK16: Tactical LED flashlight features Dual Tactical Tail Switch operation

Fenix TK16

The TK16 is the first Fenix flashlight to feature the Dual Tactical Tail Switch system which locates both power and mode buttons on the tailcap facilitating one-finger operation of the light. The flashlight measures 5.5 inches in length and weighs 4.3 ounces without the battery. The TK16 features a dual-layer body construction which is crafted from an aerospace-grade aluminum alloy. The flashlight also features knurling and a grip ring, a stainless steel (titanium coated) pocket clip, a crenellated strike bezel and a Type III hard-anodized, anti-abrasive finish.

The Fenix TK16 contains a Cree XM-L2 U2 LED emitter, a smooth aluminum reflector and an ultra-clear glass lens with anti-reflective coating. The flashlight produces a maximum output of 1000 lumens, a beam throw of 240 meters and five light modes: Turbo 1000 Lumens 1Hr 10Min; High 400 Lumens 3Hr 25Min; Mid 150 Lumens 10Hr; Low 10 Lumens 150hr; Strobe 1000 Lumens. The TK16 can be powered by one rechargeable 18650 Li-ion battery or two 3V CR123A Lithium batteries.

The TK16 is operated by a dual tactical tail switch system which consists of a tactical power switch and a separate mode-selection switch located on the tailcap. To turn on the flashlight you can tap and hold the power switch for momentary-on or fully press for constant-on operation. With the flashlight turned on you can click the mode button to access the various brightness levels other than strobe which you activate by pressing the button for one second. You can however access the strobe mode with the light turned off by simply pressing and holding the mode button. The flashlight turns on in the previously used brightness level.

The Fenix TK16 delivers digitally regulated output which maintains constant brightness throughout the battery charge. The flashlight also features reverse polarity protection which guards against improper battery installation. The TK16 also possesses a low-voltage-warning function which kicks in when the flashlight is turned on. A low battery voltage will cause the LED to blink three times every five minutes indicating a battery change is necessary. The Fenix TK16 flashlight pack comes complete with a holster, lanyard, spare O-ring and user manual.
