Fenix FD45: Adjustable-focus flashlight delivers 900 lumens and 330 meter beam

The Fenix FD45 is an AA powered flashlight which features a rotary-focusing function in the neck that regulates the focus between spot and floodlight. The FD45 produces a maximum output of 900 lumens and a beam throw distance of 330 meters. The compact flashlight is a very handy emergency light source to have around the home or shop in the event of a low light scenario. The FD45 would also be a cool lighting tool to store in your glove department for the nighttime auto emergency.

The FD45 measures 121.8mm long with a head diameter of 40mm. The flashlight weighs 206 grams without any batteries installed. The FD45 is constructed from an aerospace-grade aluminum alloy which features an anti-slip design and a Type III hard-anodized anti-abrasive finish. The flashlight utilizes a Cree XP-L HI neutral white LED and a TIR (Total Internal Reflection) optical focusing lens. The FD45 is powered by four AA (Ni-MH/Alkaline) batteries. Reverse polarity protection guards against incorrect insertion of the cells.

The Fenix FD45 produces seven brightness levels: Turbo 900 Lumens 2Hr 10Min Alkaline Batteries – 1Hr 30Min Ni-MH Batteries; High 350 Lumens 8Hr 50Min Alkaline Batteries – 4Hr 20Min Ni-MH Batteries; Mid 150 Lumens 12Hr Alkaline Batteries – 11Hr 50Min Ni-MH Batteries; Low 50 Lumens 30Hr Alkaline Batteries – 29Hr 50Min Ni-MH Batteries; Eco 5 Lumens 200Hr Alkaline Batteries – 160Hr Ni-MH Batteries; Strobe 900 Lumens; SOS 50 Lumens. Intelligent overheat protection causes the light to downshift brightness levels to prevent overheating.

The flashlight is operated by a side switch located below the head and a rotary focusing ring in the neck of the FD45. Press and hold the switch for 0.5 seconds to turn on/off the flashlight. With the light turned on click the switch to cycle through the various brightness levels. Press and hold the switch for 1.2 seconds to turn on/off Strobe. With the FD45 turned on rotate the focusing ring in a counterclockwise direction to manipulate the flashlight beam into a spotlight. Rotating the focusing ring in a clockwise direction achieves a broad flashlight beam.

The Fenix FD45 features a lock/unlock function which prevents accidental activation of the flashlight. With the light turned off, click the switch twice in 0.5 seconds to lock or unlock. The FD45 flashlight pack comes with a holster, lanyard, O-ring and user-manual.
